What is Trend Writing for Freelancers:

As freelance writers, our goal is to always up our game. While some writers thrive on formulaic profiles, evergreen listicles and round-ups, others excel at spotting new timely angles, and pitching absolutely unique, original stories. 

After I moved to the U.S in 2013, with no connections or experience in American media, I had no choice  but to opt for the latter. Over the years, I've focused on previously untold stories and emerging trends, a strategy that got me bylines in Elle, Wired, Bon Appetit, CNT, and many other reputable publications. I developed Trend Writing to pass this skill set forward, combining my vast experience in journalism with my academic background in media studies and anthropology. 

The course is geared towards one-on-one guidance and provides a flexible framework, an encouraging and empowering environment, and a unique opportunity to grow as a writer!

What will you learn:

Trend Writing is a 4-module, asynchronous course that takes you from trendspotting to crafting a story idea, to pitching, to successfully completing a trend-focused story. Each module is packed with valuable advice, compelling examples, links and insider tips.

Topics include:

Social Listening and recognizing social shifts / Trend forecasting and trendsetting / Tips and tools for writing successful pitches / The 5 key elements of a Timely Story / Establishing yourself as a timely voice

The offering:

- An hour-long Zoom or phone call to better understand your needs and career path as a writer. 

- Four written modules and four assignments.

- Detailed, personal feedback on each assignment, provided by me.

- A summary call.

The course is designed to be taken over the length of a month, but can be tailored to your schedule.
